WENDY ROSS Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Professional Counselor, Sport Psychotherapist, and Brainspotting Practitioner

Wendolyn Ross, MS, IMFT-S, LPC

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. Hopefully something you see will encourage you to schedule an appointment today and we can start "transforming" aspects of your life. We are all consistently evolving and “transforming” into hopefully better versions of ourselves in love, life, business, spirit, and the gifts we leave this world with. How do we do this? With help! We are better together and I believe psychotherapy is a needed tool for all those wanting to heal, or wanting to gain a “leg up” on this thing called life.

I believe in the power of love and the ability to "transform" new or troubled relationships into fulfilling ones. In relationships often the thing that attracts us to our partner, becomes the one thing that triggers our attachment injuries or “raw spots.” We instinctively go into survival mode and end up fighting the one we want to love, and want to be loved by. This triggers them, and the negative cycle of disconnection begins again…and again…and again. Couples psychotherapy can help you learn, stop, and re-program this cycle into a positive healing one.

I've dedicated my life to exploring interpersonal issues that stagnate personal growth, preventing healthy connections throughout the lifespan. I consider myself a triumphant learner, and a humbled teacher!

About Wendy: I began my career in the sports industry where I worked for Ohio University (OU) Athletics, OU Football, the Los Angeles Angels, Anaheim Ducks, Cincinnati Reds, American Airlines Arena (Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars), and ‘America’s Team,’ the Dallas Cowboys. At an early age I was introduced to tennis and skiing by my father, a Vietnam Veteran who co-founded both an African American Ski Club and tennis club in Columbus, Ohio.

After 16 years of working in sports and my father’s untimely death, I decided there was more I wanted to do to help individuals, athletes, their families, and their personal relationships. I help my clients tend to their mental health by healing and creating secure relationships with others. I believe we are happy, fulfilled individuals when our relationships are healthy, and that we become the opposite when our relationships are draining, insecure, and unstable.

Within my practice I choose to take an integrative approach to therapy, utilizing family systems models rather than pathologizing an individual. Physical and emotional cutoffs, guilt, shame, and grief exacerbate pain, and internal and/or external suffering. This is not to say that people can’t develop, or weren’t born with possible mental disorders, but I have learned that many mental, biological, or physical health issues can be minimized or healed through psychotherapy and safe, secure attachments with others.

Psychotherapy with me involves elements of empirical and proven relational, neurobiological, and attachment based models of therapy. These include emotionally focused therapy (EFT), relational life therapy (RLT), sex therapy, brainspotting therapy (BSP), adlerian psychology, experiential person-centered therapies, eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Gottman, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and some cognitive behavioral therapy. With these models along with my emotional attunement, I am no just helping couples, but also helping individuals confront and heal themselves. In addition I provide BSP and/or play therapy with children upon request.

I see clients in my private practice office in Columbus, Ohio, on location, in the privacy of client’s homes, or through online teletherapy for clients in Ohio, Texas, and Michigan. I also facilitate customized couples workshops and intensives, and provide clinical supervision to trainees and associates in the field of couples and family therapy.

I am dedicated to staying educated and abreast in my continuous training as a psychotherapist, staying personally fulfilled, clinically prepared, and qualified to provide my clients with premier, evidenced based and client centered therapeutic services. I recognize, appreciate, and utilize the diversity in all of us, no matter what culture, religion, race, sex, age, gender, socioeconomic status, or lifestyle!

I love traveling, reading, dancing, the beach, sports, and having joyful moments with family and friends. When I am not counseling, training, or supervising, I am attending to other philanthropic or entrepreneurial pursuits like being a real estate investor and Airbnb Superhost, but most importantly, learning, loving, and growing with my husband of 21 years, our 3 children, and our Australian Labradoodle.
